Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M. Karunanidhi on Thursday held the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) responsible for the question paper leak. Instead of enquiring those responsible for the safe custody of the question papers, the government was trying to cover up the matter by arresting ordinary people. In a statement, Mr. Karunanidhi said over four lakh candidates had appeared for the Group-II Services examination. “Many of them would have fared well in the examination. A re-examination would subject the candidates to mental agony. Why should they be punished for the mistake committed by the TNPSC,” he wondered.
After enhancing the power tariff several fold, the AIADMK government was now planning to increase the charges for new domestic single phase and three-phase connections and replacement of meters. He claimed that a proposal in this regard had already been sent to the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission.
